What is it?

A moisturizing skin cream which primarily consists of actual cactus extract. Cactus is shown to have TONS of moisturizing and skin soothing benefits and this cream delivers vitamins and hydration. It can be used on the face or body and is especially good for sensitive skin.

Also, a side note this is made in Korea. Korea is known to have some of the best skin products in the world.

Why I tried it…

There are literally millions of moisturizing creams to choose from. It feels overwhelming. And thanks to my dry and sensitive skin, I have spent my fair share of money experimenting.

One of the things that irks me the most is that water is consistently listed as the top ingredient in moisturizers in luxury and drugstore brands alike!

Back of packaging

My first draw to Cactus cream was that over 70% of it is made up of cactus extract (not water!). The next 5% of the ingredients is a derivative of B5. These ingredients sounded more like a serum than moisturizer and I was excited about my lotion doing double duty.

How I used this

Current Routing: Every morning I use an SPF moisturizing lotion, and every evening I wash my face and replenish with a serum and a facial lotion with retinol.

I first tested this cream at night. I cleaned my face like usual, washing away makeup and grime from the day. I gently spread a thin layer of the cactus cream over my skin until it was absorbed. Despite the lightness of the lotion, a little bit went a long way.

First Impressions

At first touch, the product feels very light, cool and soothing. It has a mild, natural scent that I enjoyed.

Yadah lists the active ingredients transparently on their site and packaging. To get this information for other moisturizing lotions, I had to scour pages. My biggest worry is that it feels so light I’m afraid it won’t be able to really penetrate my super dry skin or will wear off quickly.

Pricing

As of this review, the lotion cost $19.88 for 1.69oz. or 11.76/fl oz. which is mid-range you will find for other serum lotions.

Results

Immediately after application: I was surprised by the instant soothing effect. The majority of the lotion absorbed quickly but left my skin cool with a light sheen on my face. The lotion is not oily which would allow me to use it anytime during the day under or over makeup.

1 hour after application: My skin still felt moisturized! I could tell I had applied lotion and it felt comparable to any brand of facial lotion I’d used previously.

Morning After: Over 8 hours after application the lotion had worn off (I move a lot in my sleep) but my face still felt soft.

Pros and Cons

Pros:

  • Soothing and gentle
  • Natural ingredients that add in vitamins
  • Super moisturizing

Cons:

  • No spf, so must stack this lotion with an spf in the morning
  • Pricing is higher than some other facial moisturizers and mid-range for serum moisturizers (but I must say you get what you pay for in skincare sometimes and I couldn’t find a good comparison due to the benefits of vitamins and natural ingredients)

Bottom Line:

One of the things I loved most about this moisturizer is the soothing effect! I was surprised about how receptive my skin was to soaking this up and how my face naturally started to glow. It felt like a hug compared to harsh chemicals. Don’t get me wrong, I will still use my wrinkle creams but this was such a nice add to my skincare routine!

I have been using this during night time and mid-day. Especially as the air gets drier in the winter. The midday application gives my skin a bit of a pick me up to keep it looking fresh. I use a smaller portion midday and it absorbs immediately, leaving my skin soft, with that extra boost of moisture I was wanting!

It’s made a notable difference – friends and family commented that my skin looks glowy!
